The Hybrid Ego

Some of you maybe wondering why there is a banner on the top of my page with Desolate Hybrid displayed in big bold letters. Allow me to explain:

Hybrid is my alter ego, my gamer ego, and the ego I bring with me when I am on the internet.
Every gamer has one. They use this name/ego as the single identifying trait about themselves across the multiple platforms and communities that they participate in. The name is normally reflective of either their personality, or something that they wish to achieve in some way. Even the basic name that was created to “sound cool” is reflective of a person’s personality in some manner. Hybrid was born because I have never completely affiliated myself with one particular group of people/gamer or style of play. I can pick up and play almost any game and can adapt easily to all situations. Each group of games/gamers has qualities that I find appealing. To completely associate myself with one style would be impossible.

I love winning. I hate losing. I love a good competition. Because of this, I apply a series of traits to the Hybrid persona.

The traits I apply to the Hybrid ego are:
Cockiness
Intimidating
Knowledgeable
Competitive
Tactful

“Desolate” was added later to adapt to the online community. It made Hybrid more unique and standout more in a crowd of names. It adds a level of coyness to the Hybrid ego. It will not remain there forever. I plan on it changing within the next few years, I just need to establish myself in the industry first. Right now, the Hybrid ego has nothing to show for its efforts. It is well established in various forums and communities, but that is it. If I get hired by Electronic Arts [EA] for example, it will then become EA Hybrid.

Why is this important or relevant? Well, since I want to work in the video game industry, it is important to have an established online identity. It needs to spread. These companies are all connected with each other and it is important to have some unity between them. The goal is to stand out and be remembered. That is why I have it in my header.

I hope this provides the insight you may have been looking for. I look forward to seeing you online!

GLHF!
